MATCH REPORT | Friday, October 31, 2025 – AGB Riverside Park Ground
Riverside Cricket Club fall short in tense opener
Gazipur Sports Academy (GSA) held their nerve to defeat Riverside Cricket Club by 21 runs in a thrilling opening encounter at AGB Riverside Park Ground.
Batting first, GSA posted a competitive 175 all out in 38.4 overs, built on a string of solid contributions — Siyam (33 off 53) anchored the innings, while Emon (28), Mahadi (22), and a quickfire 19 from Azmain added valuable runs down the order.
Our left-arm off-spinner Saiful was sensational with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for just 22 runs, well supported by the rest of the bowling attack to keep the visitors in check. 🎯
Chasing 176, we had a shaky start at 34/5, before a powerful counterattack from Zico (58 off 39, 4 fours, 5 sixes) and captain Raihan (40 off 33) reignited hopes. Their partnership brought the chase back to life, but Gazipur’s bowlers struck back with tight lines and sharp fielding to bowl us out for 155.
A disappointing start to the season, but plenty of positives to take forward — we’ll look to bounce back strong in our next fixture, a 2-day game in early December.

**Match Report: Riverside Cricket Club vs Gazipur Sports Academy**
*Monday, 21st April 2025 | AGB Riverside Park*
What started as a rain-drenched morning turned into a memorable day of cricket, as Riverside Cricket Club hosted Gazipur Sports Academy for a 25-over friendly.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain persisted until 9am, leaving the ground waterlogged and hopes for play fading. Some RCC players even kicked off an impromptu 5-a-side football game, expecting a washout. But by 9:30am, the skies cleared, and both teams, with help from ground staff, worked hard to dry the pitch and outfield. Thanks to this effort, play began at 12:30pm.
RCC won the toss and chose to field. GSA stumbled early, losing 4 wickets for 46 runs, but recovered well to post a strong total of 171. Their innings reflected resilience and technique beyond their years.
RCC’s reply got off to a rough start, quickly slipping to 47/5. Despite some middle-order resistance, they were bowled out for 104, handing GSA a convincing 67-run win.
The boys from Gazipur were exceptional—not just in skill, but in conduct. Polite, professional, and humble in victory, they exemplified the spirit of the game. Their presence was a reminder of the potential and promise of Bangladesh’s cricketing future.
On a day that looked lost to rain, cricket triumphed thanks to teamwork, effort, and the spirit of the game. We were proud to share the field with such fine young gentlemen.

### Match Report: Riverside Cricket Club vs Advocates Cricket Club (ACC)
*AGB Riverside Park, January 10, 2025*
In an exciting contest at the Riverside Ground, Advocates Cricket Club (ACC) outclassed Riverside Cricket Club (RCC) with a convincing performance to secure victory. ACC’s strong showing was built on disciplined batting and crucial moments in the field.
*ACC’s Innings:*
Winning the toss and electing to bat, ACC posted an imposing total of 260 runs in their allotted 35 overs. The innings was anchored by a scintillating century from Aktarul Islam, whose masterclass with the bat laid the foundation for their total. He was ably supported by Golam Obayed Jiko, who contributed a vital half-century. Despite an initial grip on the scoring rate, RCC faltered at the death, leaking valuable runs that allowed ACC to cross the 250-mark comfortably.
*RCC’s Chase:*
Chasing 260 was always going to be a challenge, and RCC’s innings struggled to gain momentum, largely due to a lack of substantial partnerships. Hassan was the standout performer for RCC, crafting a superb half-century that gave the team hope deep into the chase. However, with little support from the other end, RCC fell short of the target despite his valiant efforts.
*The Result:*
ACC emerged victorious in a game played in great spirit, proving that their superior cricket on the day deservedly earned them the win. RCC will rue their poor bowling at the death and the inability to build partnerships during the chase, critical factors that tipped the balance in ACC’s favor.
Both teams showcased excellent camaraderie, and RCC looks forward to facing ACC again next season, hoping to reverse the outcome.

**Match Report: Riverside CC vs CPP**
*AGB Riverside Park, January 3, 2025*
On another cold and misty winter morning, Riverside CC endured a sobering 8-wicket defeat to CPP in their first match of 2025. Despite a valiant recovery effort led by captain Raihan Alauddin, the home side struggled to contain a rampant CPP batting lineup, spearheaded by a breathtaking century from Navid Hasan.
**Riverside’s Innings**
After electing to bat, Riverside’s innings began with promise but quickly faltered under CPP’s disciplined bowling. Reduced to 99/4, the team found themselves teetering on the edge before Alauddin stepped up with a captain’s knock of 55. His measured innings provided stability and helped push the total to 181. However, Riverside’s resistance was short-lived, as they were bowled out in 32.2 overs, leaving runs on the table in what proved to be a below-par performance.
**CPP’s Response**
CPP took to the chase with an aggressive mindset, hammering boundaries from the outset and scoring at over 10 runs per over. Navid Hasan etched his name into Riverside Park history, smashing the first century on the ground in just 46 deliveries. With the weakened Riverside bowling attack unable to find answers, CPP raced to the target in just 15.4 overs, inflicting a heavy defeat on the home side.
**Looking Ahead**
Following two strong victories to close out the previous year, this was a reality check for Riverside CC. While Raihan Alauddin’s efforts with the bat were a silver lining, the team will need to regroup and address their bowling concerns. With the next fixture just around the corner, Riverside will hope to bounce back and rediscover the form that carried them to success in late 2024.
**Result:** CPP won by 8 wickets.
**Key Performances:**
- Raihan Alauddin (Riverside CC): 55
- Navid Hasan (CPP): 100* (46 balls)
